We are excited about your interest in joining the Texas Yarn Trail as a participating shop! The purpose of the Texas Yarn Trail is to connect the crafting community with Houston-area local yarn stores, specifically those with fully operational physical brick-and-mortar locations. While we recognize the validity of online shopping today, it is even more imperative that we all support small retail businesses that offer the in-person real-time shopping experience and face-to-face customer service that physical brick-and-mortar stores provide. Therefore, the Yarn Trail was organized with and has always implemented minimum requirements for all participating shops, which are outlined here.
-Must be a physical brick-and-mortar store located in a commercial building.
-Must maintain regular hours open to the general public that would be perceived as a normal operating retail store.
-Must be a store that focuses primarily on the sale of new and unused yarn and fiber, including recognizable brands that are commercially produced.
-Products for sale cannot be limited to the owner's (or other artists) own brand of products, i.e., one line of hand-dyed yarn, primarily hand-made finished goods like hand-spun yarn, yarn offered for sale that comes from the farm it represents, etc.
-Must be a legally formed for-profit business registered in the State of Texas with a valid Texas Sales & Use Tax Resale Certificate.
Please note, meeting these is a minimum requirement to be considered, but know that other factors also go into deciding whether or not to invite new shops to participate. There is a limit on how many shops we feel make for a fun, enjoyable, and obtainable experience for our Trail Goers. Also, geographic considerations are important, as well as customer experience.
We are so excited to support and encourage shopping at all local yarn shops, and the Yarn Trail was started as a fun way to promote shopping local and to help build our yarn-loving community, Houston-wide!
Sincerely,
